The AMG® Sport Exhaust System utilizes variable vanes in the main exhaust chamber to regulate the flow of engine exhaust. Then it tailors the pitch of the sound to your driving situation. When you kick into high gear with Sport and Sport+ mode, the vanes open completely to produce that full-throated roar as you take off. Round exhaust ports look almost like jet engines.
The key to the AMG® exhaust sound comes from mimicking the roar of a classic engine. Mercedes-Benz engineered both exhaust systems using routing and calibration strategies to elevate the sound while keeping it pure and magnificent. No one will be able to ignore you, whether you’re on downtown city streets or cruising to Massillon.
Whereas the tailpipes in the AMG® Sport Exhaust system are round, the Performance system has impressive rectangular shapes. You’ll hear a varying sound based on what you do when you drive. Speed up to produce more rumble. Downshifting produces an ever-decreasing sound. Even better, you can manually adjust the aggressiveness of the sound to suit your mood.
