EV Charging Cost for Your Mercedes-Benz
The average cost of electricity in an American home is 15 cents per kWh. Your actual costs may vary. In our OH, the average cost of electricity is about 14 cents per kWh. When you consider that many Mercedes EV batteries utilize around 80 kWh, your charging costs can be very low on a daily basis.
The automaker estimates your annual charging costs can come to around $540, which is about half of what you would spend on gasoline or diesel fuel.
How Much Does a Home EV Charger Cost?
You have three charging levels for your electric car.
- Level 1 is the slowest, usually around 2 kWh, or 3 to 5 miles of range per hour.
- Level 2 is the medium charging speed, anywhere from 3 to 19 kWh.
- Level 3 is the fastest charging speed, anywhere from 50 to 350 kWh for DC Fast Charging.
Level 1 simply uses your home’s existing outlets. Level 2 requires an upgrade to your home’s electrical outlet in the garage. A Mercedes ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 charger for your home charges your vehicle up to nine times faster than an ordinary outlet. This charging station costs $749 to install in your home. Luckily, there are government incentives for these stations, and you might be able to get a rebate from the federal government for installing one of these chargers in your Canton home.
